Education Search Service (ESS)

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) does not offer initial education and training to become a coach (we only offer professional development for practiced coaches). As the accrediting body for coach-specific education and accredited providers, we cannot recommend any specific coaching education organizations.

To ensure quality education, ICF accredits coaching education organizations that meet the high standards set forth by ICF and ICF Coaching Education. To find ICF-Accredited Providers we suggest that you use our Education Search Service (ESS) below. The search for a coach education program is a highly individual process that depends greatly on your personal preferences and goals. The ESS is designed to give you basic information about all ICF-Accredited Education Providers.

Organization Description:

Clutterbuck Coaching and Mentoring International (CCMI) is a global consortium of specialist trainers and researchers in the fields of internal coaching, team coaching and developmental mentoring. It conducts leading edge research into all of these areas, with a strong emphasis on good practice and the evidence base that underpins it.

The Practice Lead for CCMI is Prof David Clutterbuck, who heads up the UK team. David is one of the original pioneers of developmental mentoring and coaching, co-founder in 1992 of what is now the European Mentoring and Coaching Council and visiting professor of coaching and mentoring at a number of Universities. He is author or co- author of over 75 books, including the first English language books on coaching culture and on team coaching.

Program Description:
This program is aimed at coaches and sponsors of coaching, who wish to develop their skills of coaching executives. This evidence-based, deeply practical three-day workshop is aimed at people, who have had some exposure to coaching (perhaps as a line manager) and wish to acquire skills as an executive coach. Whereas most coach training tends to take a relatively simplistic perspective on the role, functions and skills of a coach, this programme recognises that change at executive level is always systemic. Bringing about change in the individual is not enough – change is only sustainable if it also encompasses the systems that influence them and are influenced by them. The programme draws on on-going research into how coaches mature in their practice to support participants in speeding up the transitions to mastery.

While the basic concepts of coaching apply to executive coaching, there are numerous contextual challenges – not least to work not just with the client, but with the multiple systems which influence them and which they influence. The workshop provides insights into key issues, such as how executives make decisions and how a coach can help them maintain their authenticity. It also provides a portfolio of advanced tools, both for core competencies, such as listening; for helping executives overcome common derailers, such as imposter syndrome; and for supporting clients in their strategic thinking. The workshop involves ample practice time and concludes with building a strong coach development plan in the context of executive coaching.
