Education Search Service (ESS)

The ESS is a free, searchable directory of coaching education that is accredited by ICF. ICF-accredited education has gone through a rigorous review process and demonstrated that its curriculum aligns with the ICF definition of coaching, Core Competencies and Code of Ethics. Level One, Level Two, and Level Three offerings deliver foundational coach-specific education and training. Continuing Coach Education (CCE) offerings provide advanced and supplemental learning opportunities for trained and credentialed coach practitioners.

As the accrediting body for coach-specific education and accredited providers, we cannot recommend any specific coaching education organizations.

To find ICF-Accredited Providers that meet your individual needs, we suggest that you use our Education Search Service (ESS) below. The search for a coach education program is a highly individual process that depends greatly on your personal preferences and goals. The ESS is designed to give you basic information about all ICF-Accredited Education Providers.

Mentor Coaching Essentials is a 10-hour asynchronous (self-paced) continuing coach education program that prepares experienced coaches for the professional role of mentor coach. The program covers the professional framework of mentor coaching: the ICF Code of Ethics as applied to mentoring; the key ICF documents a mentor coach relies on (Core Competencies, Competency Glossary, PCC Markers, ACC/PCC Minimum Skills Requirements); the six ICF Mentor Coaching Competencies; the distinctions between mentor coaching, supervision, assessment, therapy, and consulting; mentoring agreements and process management; formative assessment and developmental feedback; the difference in mentoring focus for coaches pursuing ACC versus PCC credentials; and group mentor coaching. Learning is delivered through structured text lessons, recorded video lessons, and applied case studies with methodological solutions. Learning is verified through self-check assignments, case analysis, and a final 20-question test required for the certificate of completion.
